LINE PROTOSTAR and National Taipei University of Business jointly host the "2021 LINE Chatbot Competition". This competition attracted over 60 teams and 240 participants to contribute their business ideas. The final was on Oct 23rd, 2022 at the showroom of Taoyuan City Government Youth Affair. 10 teams reached the final and presented their ideas to the judges. After voting, the champion was "魚事 - 關魚產銷的大小事"; second-place was "發票鯨魚"; third-place was "虛擬Bee"; honorable-mentioned "記事堡" and "愛釣客". In addition, the judges decided to add one more special award to praise for the creativity of young generation. This special award went to the second-place "發票鯨魚".

Cecilia Tang, Senior Direcotor of Corporate Strategy, LINE Taiwan, said that LINE hoped to provide a platform for talents to develop LINE chatbot and realize their business ideas through this conpmetition. These chatbots could create a new interaction experience to LINE users and enrich their digital life. The principal of National Taipei University of Business shared that UTNB has been established for more than one hundread years. To get with the times and nurture business talents, chatbot development became the core courses of the university.

Competition Topic: Financial Zoo

The competition invited guests to give some speech. Members of the Legislative Yuan 魯明哲 believed this competition could help developers to realize their ideas  and bring their innovation to the stage. 郭裕信, Commissioner of Department of Economics Development, Taoyuan mentioned that the topic of this year was quite creative that young generation could leverage LINE ecosystem to integrate their creativity and technology. Taoyuan City Government hoped to estalish a hub for young genration to help them hang on to their dream. 袁典文, Division Chief of Taoyuan City Government Youth Affairs said that Taoyuan was a city full of energy and talents, and the government was glad that their talents could have this competition be host in Taoyuan.

 

LINE chatbot applications: from catch yield and sales to virtual currency

The champion "魚事 - 關魚產銷的大小事" transparentize information of fishing-catch from supply end to sales ends. Users could search for the current price and get AI recommendation just in LINE chatroom. The second-place and special award winner "發票鯨魚" integrate invocie record and checking features with expense tracking. They also impletment the concept of "invoice sharing" into the chatbot that once winning the lottery, the invoice could be redeem as bonus or donate to institutes. The third place "虛擬Bee" provided a one-stop information aggregation center to provide live crypto-currency information. 

Honnorable-mentioned award "記事堡" surveyed LINE users' note usage behavior and optimized this function and provided alarm features. Users could use LINE to track chores. "愛釣客" targeted at naive fishermen and provided fishing basic knowledge and LINE Pay payment feature.
